Chinese Club Resumes Tomorrow! Community Events Calendar; Mandarin sessions for Teens, Young Professionals, and Adults...Read all about it.
Dear Chinese-learning Families,
We have a new Events Calendar Page that allows you to view both the Academic Year at a glance, as well as upcoming events as they are added. Please look out for holidays and breaks there so you can plan your weekends accordingly. We will also be including events from our partners and collaborators there, for those who want to know what other Chinese-speaking events are happening around town.
Chinese Club Updates
Out of consideration for Halloween plans and Parent-Teacher Conferences, we have adjusted our Thursday Chinese Club dates to only 4-session months + Asian snacks + monthly family events/karaoke parties. Please take note of the following remaining sessions for the 2024 - 2025 school year and contribute within the first week of each month to secure your membership:
October 3-24 sessions, with Family Day on October 24
Nov. 7, 14, Dec. 5, 12 sessions, with End of Term Party on December 15 [one month membership contribution good for both November and December]
February 6-27, 2025, sessions, with Family Day on February 27
April 3-24, 2025, sessions, with Family Day on April 24
May 1-22, 2025, sessions, with End of Term Party on May 18
This month’s meet-up time and location will remain the same, 3:15pm-4:45pm in Goleta, by Ellwood Bluffs. Please contact Principal Jenny for specific address.
Flexible Tutorials for Adults, Teens, & Young Professionals
Due to growing demand, we have started piloting our tutorial sessions for our relatively older age groups. It’s basically a 1-to-1 to 1-to-3 session taught by one Lead Instructor and multiple TAs, so the content can be customized to the individual’s needs, without the high price tag of a private tutor. We understand that everybody's situation is different, and hope to cater to our otherwise neglected population by offering these tutorial sessions until the size of the group is large enough to constitute its own class.
So far, we have been able to host these sessions on Sundays, both at 1:00pm for older siblings up to Teens, and 2:30pm for Young Professionals to Adults…also 1.5 hours long each time. Tuition is the same as our regular classes, discounted in bulk payments until the end of the term, or on a pay-per-visit basis. Please register to show your interest and be placed with the appropriate lead instructor. We will follow up to figure out a start date and location upon further review.
For college students and adults seeking credit, there’s also an amazing Chinese language program offered by SBCC in town that you can consider trying out. And if all else fails, our Online instructors have you covered.

中文俱乐部
在考虑万圣节和家长会的计划中，我们以后星期四的中文俱乐部定为每月4次辅导课 + 亚洲小吃 + 每月家庭活动/卡拉OK聚会。请注意2024-2025学年剩下的时间安排，并在每个月的第一周内捐款，以确保您的会员资格：
10月3日至24日的辅导，家庭日定在10月24日
11月7日、14日 + 12月5日、12日的辅导，学期结束派对定在12月15日 [一个月的捐款可以涵盖11月和12月]
2025年2月6日至27日的辅导，家庭日定在2月27日
2025年4月3日至24日的辅导，家庭日定在4月24日
2025年5月1日至22日的辅导，学期结束派对定在5月18日

成人、青少年和年轻职业人士的灵活辅导课程
跟着需求的增加，我们开始为相对年长的学生提供试点辅导课程。这是1对1到1对3的课程，由一位负责老师和多位助教授课，内容可以根据个人需求量身定制。我们知道每个人的情况都不同，希望通过这些辅导课程来帮助我们之前被忽视的群体，直到组员人数足够再开设自己的班级。
目前，我们的课程时间安排在周日，分别是下午1:00给大一些的孩子和青少年，以及下午2:30给年轻职业人士和成年人……每次课程时长为1.5小时。学费与我们常规课程相同，批量支付可享受折扣，或者按次支付。请注册表达您的兴趣，留下具体情况和联系信息。我们会在进一步评估后与您确认开始日期和地点。
对于寻求学分的大学生和成年人，镇上还有一个很棒的SBCC中文选修课可以考虑尝试一下。如果还需要其他的选择，我们的在线讲师也可以为您提供帮助。
