Dear SBCS Families,
You’re Invited!
End-of-Term BBQ Potluck, Performance, and Pool Party on May 17! Click for details and RSVP. Our students have been eagerly practicing to perform, including our little pilot group of Dance class students! For those currently enrolled in our weekend programs, your RSVP is especially important for us to gauge whether our student will be present to receive their End-of-Term certificates/progress reports.
Looking Forward…
Late June - mid-July: Family summer immersion in Taiwan. No SBCS summer camp in Santa Barbara.
August: Dance and Weekday classes resume! Look out for registration links in July’s newsletter, or check our website.
September: Formal weekend sessions resume. Registration is open year round.
Since the AP Chinese Language and Culture Exam takes place every May, allow us to take the opportunity to congratulate all 5 of our AP Chinese students, 4 of whom scored 5/5, 1 scored 4/5!! BRAVO students!! Well done, Online team!! Did you know that our Beijing team offers AP Chinese Exam Prep online?
We may spend most of our time focusing on in-person classes for our K-12s here in Santa Barbara, but as our children get older, and exams start piling on, our families have often turned to our Beijing-based Online teachers to continue thriving in Mandarin.
For some of us, high school seems to be so far away, but perhaps it’s not too soon to start having some conversations about utilizing our Mandarin skills to secure a Seal of Biliteracy on our high school graduate’s diploma, recognized by college admissions, multinational employers, internship programs, etc. By the time our students reaches the 9th grade, SBCS can help prepare them to be recognized for their bilingual abilities in English and Mandarin.
In the meantime, “May the force be with you” for a strong finish to the school year!

5 月 17 日学期末 BBQ 百乐餐、学生表演与泳池派对即将举行！欢迎点击查看活动详情并 RSVP。我们的学生们近期都非常认真地为演出做准备，其中也包括首次参与表演的小小舞蹈班试点学生们。对于目前参加周末课程的家庭来说，您的 RSVP 尤其重要，这将帮助我们确认学生是否会到场领取学期证书与学习进度报告。带上拿手菜一起来吧！
接下来，也和大家分享一下未来几个月的重要安排
六月下旬至七月中旬：我们的台湾暑期沉浸项目将正式展开。因此，今年夏天 SBCS 将不会在圣塔芭芭拉举办夏令营。
八月份：舞蹈课程与平日中文课程将陆续恢复。注册链接会发布在七月份的新闻通讯中，也欢迎随时查看我们的网站获取最新消息。
九月份：正式周末课程将重新开始。我们的周末课程全年开放报名，欢迎随时加入。
每年五月都是 AP 中文语言与文化考试的季节，我们也想借此机会热烈祝贺去年参加考试的 5 位学生，其中 4 位获得满分 5 分，1 位获得 4 分！为学生们喝彩，也为我们的线上教学团队点赞！您知道我们位于北京的线上教师团队也提供 AP 中文考试准备课程吗？
虽然我们大部分时间都专注于服务圣塔芭芭拉地区 K-12 学生的实体课程，但随着孩子逐渐长大、学业压力增加，许多家庭也开始选择通过我们北京团队的线上课程，继续稳定提升中文能力。
对于部分家庭来说，高中毕业似乎还很遥远，但或许现在正是开始规划的时候。越来越多学校、大学招生单位、跨国企业以及实习项目，都非常重视“双语能力认证（Seal of Biliteracy）”。当学生进入九年级后，SBCS 可以协助他们准备相关要求，让他们在高中毕业证书上获得英语与中文双语能力认证，为未来升学与职业发展增加更多优势。
