Dear SBCS Families,
We are back from Family Abroad in Taipei! Our partner in Taiwan, Yixin Academy, pulled out all the stops and here are the finishing touches with a video recap of the summer for both the Youth track (7-14YO) and the Preschool track (4-6YO):
我们已经顺利结束「Family Abroad」台北暑期课程，平安返家！这次在台湾的合作伙伴，一心学院，为大家精心安排了丰富又精彩的课程与活动，可说是全力以赴，为这个夏天画下完美句点。以上与大家分享本次暑期课程的精彩回顾影片，包括：儿少班（7–14岁）和幼儿班（4–6岁）。欢迎大家一起重温这个充满学习、成长与美好回忆的夏天！

4-6 Year-Old Preschool Group 幼儿班:

Unfortunately, presentations and all schools were cancelled next day due to Typhoon, per City of Taipei ordinance. 遗憾的是，由于台风来袭，台北市政府宣布全市停班停课，因此原定隔天举行的成果发表与学校活动皆取消。
Was It the Right Choice? Worth It? 值得吗?
What do you think after reviewing the videos? Teachers were fully committed to making Chinese language learning immersive, fun, and ensured our students had ample opportunities to speak. So much creative thought was put into prompting students to speak up. Principal Jenny represented SBCS in preparations and conducted teacher evaluations throughout the sessions to offer feedback to most of the teachers, except the ones her kids are in (so they wouldn’t be distracted by her presence). Overall, we look forward to our collaboration, and the kids certainly look forward to going back.
我们觉得选对了！看完影片后你觉得呢？老师们全心投入，致力于打造沉浸式、轻松有趣的中文学习环境，并确保每位学生都有充足的开口说中文机会。课堂活动经过精心设计，以各种创意方式鼓励学生主动表达、积极参与。Jenny 校长全程代表 SBCS 参与课程筹备，并在课程期间进行教师观课与教学评估，为大多数老师提供专业回馈。（为了避免孩子分心，她没有评估自己孩子所在班级的老师。）总的来说，我们非常期待接下来的合作，孩子们也很期待再次回去！
How did it compare to other programs? 这个项目的优势
No other programs were as committed to speaking Chinese, English was used more frequently elsewhere. No other program had overnight excursions that gave the parents a night off.
与我们在地了解过的其他海外中文夏令营相比，本项目最大的特色是坚持以中文为主要沟通语言，课堂与活动中几乎都以中文进行；相较之下，其他课程较常使用英语。此外，本项目还安排了过夜校外活动，让孩子拥有难忘的团体生活体验，也让家长能够享受一个轻松的夜晚，这也是其他课程少见的安排。
Something to Consider 课程说明
Written content was taught in traditional Chinese characters with pinyin/zhuyin to assist. We teach simplified characters w/ pinyin at SBCS, but will also introduced traditional characters when the opportunity presents itself (Calligraphy, newspaper clippings, etc.). If you’re emphasis is on speaking Chinese, this is the program for you.
课程教材采用繁体中文，并搭配拼音（汉语拼音）及注音符号辅助学习。SB中文学校平时以简体中文搭配汉语拼音进行教学，同时也会在适当的时机介绍繁体字（例如书法课程、报章杂志、历史文化等内容）让学生兼具两种文字的阅读能力。如果您的目标是培养孩子实际开口说中文的能力，那么这个项目会是非常值得推荐的选择。
