Dearest SBCS Families,
We wrapped up a super fun-filled Spring Break Camp at Ice in Paradise last month, and wanted to share some memorable highlights via this photo album for your reference.
Now that we have firmed things up with our summer session sites, we are excited to announce the following lineup for three weeks of 5-day immersive Chinese language and cultural learning experiences:
July 28 - August 1: Plants and Performances at the Notre Dame School
August 4 - 8: Ocean Life Deep Dive at the Santa Barbara Harbor, Beach, and Maritime Museum
August 11 -15: Winter, Weather, and Water at Ice in Paradise and Girsh Park
Every site we partner with has its own learning themes that inspire its own site-specific vocabulary. These themes will then be broken down by language levels, taught via storytelling and lessons, then reviewed and repeated daily.
Need more cultural enrichment? In between learning the language, we also offer Chinese Checkers, Chinese Chess, and common Chinese crafting activities. The week will also include a fair amount of Chinese lyrics learning via Karaoke and dance, so that we can prepare for a performance at the end of the week!

8:30-9:00 Drop Off & Morning snacks
9:00-9:45 Storytime / Quiet reading time
9:45 - 10:45 Lesson of the day (by proficiency level)
10:45 - 11:30 Snack break & Karaoke time
11:30 - 12:30 Performance Rehearsal Period
12:30 - 1:15 “What we remember” vocabulary review session
1:15 - 2:20 Catered Lunch followed by Outdoor time
2:20 - 3:15 Enrichment: Chinese Checkers / Chess / crafting / Calligraphy
3:15-4:30 Gardening / Museum exploration / Ice skating until pick-up
Our camp features:
✔ Small Class Sizes: 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio for focused learning.
✔ Specialized Curriculum: Site-specific Mandarin language learning material.
✔ Catered Lunch: provided by various Chinese restaurants around town
✔ Asian Snacks: Treats and snacks from around Asia are introduced daily. (parents should also prepare a snack bag if the student has dietary restrictions, or has a particular palate)
✔ All Materials & Supplies: Books, board games, Chinese Calligraphy materials (Brush, ink, xuan paper, practice sheets), lesson plans, character writing sheets, everything your child needs for engaging activities.
✔ Admissions/rental/access fees: To the campus, the Maritime Museum, and the Ice skating rink are all included, based on which sites you choose!
✔ Chinese School T-Shirt (not applicable to closed-campus environments): A fun & educational keepsake to wear with pride…and a great way to ID our crew.
✔ P.E. & Afternoon care: When most places charge extra for this period, our tuition is all-inclusive, and we use this time to offer enrichment classes like Chinese Calligraphy, gardening, Chinese board games, and playtime either outdoors or on the ice!
✔ Performance on the last day! An opportunity for our students to practice stage presence, build confidence, and share what they’ve learned throughout the week with their loved ones before pick-up.
Given the immersive nature of language learning, we are not offering a half-day option. Our students’ age range is from 4 to 12 years old.
FULL 5-DAY TUITION, from 8:30am - 4:30pm, is $450. Our EARLY-BIRD discounts apply to the first 8 students enrolled, and vary by site from $420-$430, yet still HALF THE PRICE YOU’D PAY FOR DAYCARE. Siblings receive a 7% discount.
As always, we like to keep our student-teacher ratio low (no more than 8:1, average 5:1), so space is limited to 16 students on average. We will require a 10-student minimum to launch, so on the off-chance that we don’t reach our enrollment minimum by our cut-off date, you will be refunded in full. 接着来，我们非常高兴地宣布暑期细节也排版了！咱们将为大家会提供三周边学边享受圣巴巴拉景点的沉浸式中文夏令营体验：
7月28日 - 8月1日： 在圣母学校举办的口才演艺培训
8月4日 - 8月8日： 在圣巴巴拉港口、海滩和海事博物馆深度探索海洋生物及运输
8月11日 - 8月15日： 在Ice in Paradise 溜冰场和 Girsh Park 学冬天、季节与水的主题
我们与每个合作地点的伙伴共同设计了各具特色的学习主题，并根据这些主题为学生提供相应的中文词汇。这些主题会按照语言水平分解，通过讲故事和课堂教学进行教授，并每天进行复习和巩固。
需要更多的文化丰富体验吗？除了语言学习外，我们还将提供中国跳棋、中国象棋和常见的中国手工艺活动。在学习语言的过程中，孩子们还将学习中文歌词，参与卡拉OK和舞蹈表演，为周末的最终表演做准备！

我们夏令营的特色：
✔ 小班教学： 师生比例为1:5，确保个性化的学习体验。
✔ 专业课程： 每个地点的中文学习内容都与其主题相关。
✔ 提供午餐： 由镇上的不同中餐馆提供的美味午餐。
✔ 亚洲零食： 每天提供来自亚洲各地的小吃（家长如有特殊饮食要求，建议自备零食）。
✔ 所有材料和用品： 提供书籍、桌游、中国书法用品（毛笔、墨水、宣纸、练习纸）等一切学习活动所需的物品。
✔ 入场/租赁/使用费用： 覆盖校园、海事博物馆和滑冰场的费用，具体费用依据所选地点而定！
✔ 中国文化T恤： （只用于室外学习）作为有趣且具有教育意义的纪念品，便于在外识别我们的小团队。
✔ 体育课与下午托管： 大部分地方收取额外费用的托管，我们的学费已包含这一服务，并在此期间为孩子们提供书法、园艺、中文桌游等丰富的文化活动。
✔ 最后一天的表演！ 学生有机会在家人面前展示所学内容，练习舞台表现力，建立自信。
鉴于语言沉浸式学习的特性，我们不提供半天课程。适合年龄为4至12岁。
全程早上8:30到下午4:30五天学费为 $450。早鸟优惠适用于前8名报名的学生，学费从 $420 到 $430 不等，仍然是您为日托所支付费用的一半价格。兄弟姐妹报名可享7%的折扣。
